Box of Sorrows: Offering Reverence, Tending Grief

Recycled Puppets and the Throw Away World

Come and enjoy an exhibition of three dimensional boxes and puppets
that reflect experiences navigating between the human world and the world of nature.

Aisha Burns

Born and raised in Texas and now living in Western Massachusetts,  violinist and
singer-songwriter Aisha Burns began playing violin when she was 10 years old. After years of secret singing, in 2013 she released her solo debut Life in the Midwater, praised for its “delicate intimacy” by NPR.

Her newest album Argonauta is a collection of songs about her struggle with the grief of losing her mother, while also navigating a new relationship. Bandcamp wrote “ Argonauta takes her vocal prowess to a new level- more confident and operatic… She evokes Tom Yorke’s plaintive cry… and occasionally she delivers the album’s most poignant messages with an air of almost stately detachment, bring to mind the German cult singer Nico, acting as a foil for the rich string arrangements, equally cinematic and mournful.”

We hope you enjoy Aisha’s music during the exhibition portion of out culminating event.

7:30-9:30pm   Performance

Fables for a New World
The performance begins with a collective work facilitated by multi-disciplinary artist and musician Terry Jenoure after a group  collaboration in her "Fables for a New World" workshop.
